Japanese: 深根輔仁 - ふかねのすけひと

Years of birth: unknown. A physician from the mid-Heian period. A member of a family of physicians who claimed to be descendants of Sun Quan of Wu, who came to Japan via Baekje during the reign of Emperor Kinmei. They took the name Hachita because they lived in Hachida-go, Otori-gun, Izumi Province (Osaka Prefecture), and Yakushi because they practiced medicine, but in 834 during the reign of Emperor Ninmyo, a family was given the surname Fukane no Sukune, which branched off from the family. Sukehito's grandfather was Fukane Munetsugu, and as a disciple of the head of the Bureau of Medicine, Sugawara Yukisada, he progressed from Uemon Isha to Gon-i Hakase and Dai-i Hakase, and was known as a renowned physician. 平安中期の医者。欽明天皇のころ百済を経由し渡来した呉の孫権の末裔と称する医家の一族。和泉国(大阪府)大鳥郡蜂田郷に住んだので蜂田,医を業としたので薬師を名乗ったが,仁明天皇の承和1(834)年に深根宿禰の姓を賜った家が出て分系した。輔仁は深根宗継を祖父とし,典薬頭菅原行貞の門徒として右衛門医師より権医博士,大医博士に累進し,名医として知られた。延喜18(918)年ごろわが国最古の漢和薬名辞書『本草和名』を選している。<著作>『掌中要方』『養生鈔』<参考文献>石原明「蜂田薬師の家系に関する考証」(『医譚』復刊17号),新村拓『古代医療官人制の研究』
