Sotome [town] - Sotome
An old town in the southwest of the Nishisonogi Peninsula, Nishisonogi County, Nagasaki Prefecture. It includes Ikeshima, where a coal mine is located. The main settlement is the fishing port of Kounoura. In addition to mining, the town also operates agriculture and fishing. The Kurosaki district contains settlements associated with hidden Christians. In January 2005, it was incorporated into Nagasaki City along with the towns of Koyagi, Iojima, Takashima, Nomozaki, and Miwa in Nishisonogi County. 46.73 km2 . 5,296 people (2003).
