Iwami mine

Japanese: 石見鉱山 - いわみこうざん
Iwami mine

...In the Middle Ages, the town was centered in Omori, which prospered due to the Iwami (Omori) silver mine. The silver mine magistrate's office and later the magistrate's office were located there as government territory, but after the Meiji period, the silver veins declined and the mine was closed in 1939. After World War II, gypsum and black ore were produced at the Iwami mine in Isotake on the coast, and the Minakami area in the southwest, blessed with abundant clay layers, is known as a producer of high-quality Sekishu tiles. There are tourist spots such as Mt. Sanbe, Sanbe Onsen, the Omori Silver Mine Historic Site and the remains of the magistrate's office, the remains of the Mabu (mining tunnel), the Gohyaku Rakan, and Kawai no Ido Shrine, all of which are part of Daisen-Oki National Park. ...
