The silver mine magistrate's office and later the magistrate's office were located there as government territory, but after the Meiji period, the silver veins declined and the mine was closed in 1939. After World War II, gypsum and black ore were produced at the Iwami mine in Isotake on the coast, and the Minakami area in the southwest, blessed with abundant clay layers, is known as a producer of high-quality Sekishu tiles. There are tourist spots such as Mt.
