Fennec fox

Japanese: フェネックギツネ - ふぇねっくぎつね(英語表記)fennec fox
Fennec fox

An animal of the order Carnivora and family Canidae. It is the smallest fox, and lives in pairs, male and female, in the deserts and semi-deserts of Nubia to Algeria, the Sinai Peninsula, and Arabia. It is small, with a head and body length of 36-41 cm, a tail length of 18-31 cm, and a weight of 0.8-1.5 kg, but its ears are unusually large, reaching more than 15 cm, and are suitable for cooling its body temperature. The soles of its feet are densely hairy, suitable for walking on sandy ground, and its sandy-colored fur serves as a camouflage. The tip of its tail is black. It spends the day in a cool hole that it has dug, and emerges at night to prey on jerboas, gerbils, small birds, lizards, insects, etc. It gives birth to 1-5 babies between March and May.
