A Russian poet. He was born on the estate of the landowning nobleman Shensin, whose mother was the wife of a German official (his biological father) who had been brought from abroad by Shensin. At the age of 14, he discovered the secret of his birth and was deprived of his noble privileges and the Shensin family name. In order to regain them, he lived a life of prose, devoted to the calculations and vanity of his military service, land management, and his position as a chamberlain, but his poetic world was established far removed from the horrible reality (he was also frightened by the mental illness of his mother). His poetic talent blossomed in the mid-1850s, and in the 1860s he challenged the mainstream of sociological literature, advocating pure beauty. Fet's poetry is characterized by his dedication to capturing fleeting sensations and elusive emotions, and his attempt to convey things that cannot be expressed in words through the sound and rhythm of the lines, which is similar to Symbolism. His representative work, the series of poems "Evening Light" (1883-91), also shows the influence of Schopenhauer.
