A pupil of Rubens, he studied in Italy and returned to Germany, settling in Mechelen after returning to the Netherlands. His style was magnificently Baroque, and his main work was the design and decorative sculpture of the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Dunswick in Mechelen.
