Treaty of Hue

Protectorate treaties concluded between France and Vietnam in 1883 and 1884. Determined to colonize Vietnam. The Rivière Incident in 1882 marked the start of France's full-scale invasion of northern Vietnam, and in August 1883 a French fleet attacked Hue. The Hue Imperial Court surrendered, and on the 25th of the same month, it concluded a provisional treaty of 28 articles with its representative, Armand. As a result, Vietnam became a French protectorate, three ports, including Tourane (now Da Nang), were opened to the public, and the French military's expulsion of the Black Flag forces was officially recognized.

1883年と84年にフランスとベトナムとの間に締結された保護条約。ベトナムの植民地化を決定した。1882年のリビエール事件を機にフランスのベトナム北部侵略が本格化し，83年8月フランス艦隊がフエHue(ユエ)を襲った。屈服したフエ朝廷は同月25日，代表アルマンとの間に仮条約28ヵ条を結んだ。これによってベトナムはフランスの保護国となり，トゥーラン(現，ダナン)など3港が開港され，フランス軍による黒旗軍の駆逐が公認された。
