Japanese: 浮世絵類考 - うきよえるいこう

This is a biographical dictionary that lists the biographies, lineages, styles, and representative works of ukiyo-e artists. It is highly valued as a basic reference for ukiyo-e research. Originally compiled by Ota Nanpo around 1790 (Kansei 2), Sasaya Kuninori added the "Original Lineage" in 1800, Santokyoden added a "Follow-up" in 1802 (Kyowa 2), and Shikitei Sanba expanded it during the Bunsei era (1818-1830). Based on the above, Keisai Eisen wrote "Mumeino Zuihitsu" (also known as "Continued Ukiyo-e Ruiko") in 1800 (Tenpo 4), Saito Gesshin wrote "Augmented Ukiyo-e Ruiko" in 1844 (Koka 1), and Tatsuta Shukin wrote "New and Augmented Ukiyo-e Ruiko" in 1868 (Meiji 1).

浮世絵師の略伝，師系，作風，代表作などを記した人名事典。浮世絵研究の基礎的な文献として価値が高い。1790年(寛政2)ころ大田南畝が原撰し，1800年笹屋邦教が〈始系〉を付記，さらに02年(享和2)山東京伝が〈追考〉を加え，文政年間(1818‐30)式亭三馬が増補した。以上をもとに，33年(天保4)渓斎英泉が《無名翁随筆》(別名《続浮世絵類考》)，44年(弘化1)斎藤月岑が《増補浮世絵類考》，68年(明治1)竜田舎秋錦が《新増補浮世絵類考》を，それぞれ書きついでいる。
