A device that sucks up fish and other fish with water and transports them. It was developed in the United States in the 1940s and was successful in unloading raw sardines and herring from canneries from ships, and then came to be used to transfer fish caught in nets at sea to the holds of ships. Both types use vacuum pumps, and water is separated as needed and discarded or returned. The fresher the fish, the less water is required. Subsequent improvements have made it possible to transport fish up to about 90 cm in length at a speed of 2 to 12 tons/min. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
