Also known as fiberboard. A building material made by pulping vegetable fibers, adding adhesive, and forming them into boards through the following processes: board making, drying, humidification treatment, and finishing to a fixed length. In the JIS classification, boards with a specific gravity of 0.4 or less are called soft fiberboards (insulation boards), those with a specific gravity of 0.4 to 0.8 are called semi-hardboards, and those with a specific gravity of 0.8 or more are called hard fiberboards. Soft fiberboards are used for interior use as sound-absorbing and heat-insulating materials, while hard fiberboards are used for interior and exterior walls, ceilings, and floors. Inorganic fibers such as glass fiber are also used. → Related topics Bagasse | Boards | Wood industry Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
