nirvana (English spelling)

…The karmic body emits six levels of imperceptible colors (leśyā) depending on the good or bad nature of its nature. If the soul, which is dragging its karma and wandering through the world of suffering, wishes to attain a state of peace (nirvāṇa, or Nirvana) or liberation (mokṣa), it must eliminate the karmic substances that have already attached to it (nirjarā) and prevent the inflow of new karmic substances (saṃvara). …

From [Nirvana]

Nirvana is a word that is thought to be a corrupted slang for the Sanskrit word nirvāṇa, and is also written as naion, naiotsu, etc. The word originates from the meaning of "blown out," and originally meant the state in which the flame of life has been blown out, that is, death, so it has been translated as metsudo, jyakumetsu, etc.
