Ceramic coating

Coating the surface of mild steel, heat-resistant steel, heat-resistant alloys, molybdenum, cermets, etc. with ceramics to improve heat resistance. Usually, this is done by applying a glaze to the surface and firing it. In the narrow sense, glaze refers to heat-resistant enamels that are mainly made of glass, but generally it also includes other fire-resistant crystalline materials. A method is also used in which the molten components are melted with an oxygen-acetylene flame using a special melting injection device and then sprayed onto the metal surface with compressed air. It is used in jet engines and nuclear reactor parts, etc.

耐熱性をよくするために，軟鋼，耐熱鋼，耐熱合金，モリブデン，サーメットなどの表面にセラミックスを被覆すること。普通，釉 (うわぐすり) を表面に施して焼成して行われ，狭義には，釉がおもにガラス質のものを含む耐熱ほうろうをさすが，一般にはその他の耐火性結晶質をも含む。特殊な溶融噴射装置を用いて溶融成分を酸素-アセチレン炎で溶かし，圧搾空気で金属表面へ吹きつける方法も行われている。ジェットエンジンや原子炉部品などに用いられている。
