Roman politician of the 1st century BC. He served Caesar as a subordinate and secretary-general during Caesar's Gallic campaign from around 54 BC. Hirtius wrote the eighth and final volume of Caesar's Gallic Wars, and he is mainly known for this. After the civil war broke out, he traveled with Caesar to Spain and Greece. He served as praetor in 46 BC, governor of Gaul in 45 BC, and consul in 43 BC, but was killed in battle at Mutina in northern Italy in the same year during a battle with the Antoninians.

前1世紀のローマの政治家。カエサルの部下で前54年ころからガリア遠征中のカエサルと行動をともにし，下士官もしくは秘書長として彼に仕えた。カエサルの《ガリア戦記》のうち最後の第8巻はヒルティウスの筆になるもので，おもにこのことによって後世に名を残した。内乱勃発後もカエサルとともにスペインやギリシアに赴いた。前46年に法務官，前45年にガリア総督を歴任し，前43年には執政官に就任したが，この年アントニウス派との抗争で北イタリアのムティナで戦死した。
