Also known as a microbalance, this refers to a balance with a weighing capacity of 20 g or less that is used for elemental analysis and precise measurement of minute amounts. There are the same models as chemical balances (microbalances with a weighing capacity of 20 to 5 g and a sensitivity of 0.05 to 0.01 mg), the same models as direct reading balances (direct reading microbalances with a weighing capacity of 20 to 10 g and a sensitivity of 0.001 mg), electronic balances (electrobalances with a weighing capacity of several grams and a sensitivity of 0.01 to 0.0001 mg), and torsion balances (quartz torsion balances with a weighing capacity of 0.25 g and a sensitivity of 0.0001 mg).
