Japanese: 日吉[町] - ひよし

A former town in Hioki County on the west coast of the Satsuma Peninsula in Kagoshima Prefecture. It consists of the Fukiagehama sand dunes, the lowlands behind them, and the Shirasu plateau inland. The town is primarily agricultural, producing rice, mandarin oranges, tobacco, and other products, and also engages in coastal fishing. Hioki roof tiles, made from high-quality clay, are famous. In May 2005, it merged with Higashiichiki Town, Ijuin Town, and Fukiage Town in Hioki County to become a city, Hioki City. 29.25 ^km2 . 6,065 people (2003).

A former town in Funai-gun, central Kyoto Prefecture. Located in the center of the Tanba highlands, it is on the watershed between the Oi River and the Yura River, and is served by the San'in Main Line. Rice, vegetables, and flowers are cultivated here. Forestry is in decline. In January 2006, it merged with Miyama-cho in Kitakuwata-gun, Sonobe-cho in Funai-gun, and Yagi-cho in Funai-gun to become Nantan City. Area 123.50 ^km2 . Population 6,209 (2003).
