A method to prevent shrinkage cavities and bubbles from occurring when molten metal solidifies by forging at the same time as it solidifies. It is also called high-pressure solidification casting or semi-molten forging. The metal poured into the mold is in a completely molten state (liquid phase) or semi-molten state (liquid and solid phases coexist), and high mechanical pressure is applied by a press to form the product, and pressure is continued until solidification is complete. This method can produce products with excellent mechanical properties, good dimensional accuracy, and a dense casting surface with a good yield. Research on this method began in the Soviet Union in the 1930s, and it is also applied to light alloys, copper alloys, and some steels. It is currently used to produce large light alloy parts, pressure-resistant bronze parts, flange castings, etc., and is expected to further develop in the future.
