A photographic system that allows you to obtain an image immediately after taking a picture. The image is completed in about one minute. Black-and-white instant photography was first invented and commercialized by the American company Polaroid in 1948 (Polaroid camera). Color instant photography was invented and commercialized by the same company in 1963. It uses a diffusion transfer method in which only the components necessary for the image are diffused and transferred onto the print.

撮影した直後にその場で画像が得られる写真システム。約１分で画像が完成する。白黒インスタント写真は1948年，アメリカのポラロイド社により発明・商品化されたのが最初（ポラロイドカメラ）。カラーインスタント写真の発明・商品化は1963年で，同社による。画像に必要な成分のみを拡散させプリント上に転写させる拡散転写法などを利用する。
