Miyataki ruins
<br /> The remains of a palace on the river terrace on the north bank of the Yoshino River in Miyataki, Yoshino-cho, Yoshino-gun, Nara Prefecture. Its value as a mountain ruin containing artifacts from the Jomon to Nara periods was recognized, and it was designated a national historic site in 1957 (Showa 32). Artifacts from each period have been excavated across a vast area of ​​approximately 20,000 m2 . Remains from the Jomon period are on the terrace between the new and old roads of National Route 169, while remains from the Yayoi period can be seen over a wide area on the Miyataki terrace. Items related to the Jomon culture include pottery, stone axes , stone arrowheads, stone knives, stone clubs, etc. , and the pottery has sunken lines and many pieces have partial impressions made by snail shells. Items related to the Yayoi culture include pottery, stone axes, stone knives, etc., and the pottery has a lot of comb patterns, is large, and has a lid, making it distinctive. There are paving stones about 30 to 40 cm below the surface, and Sueki pottery, Hajiki pottery , and old roofing tiles have been excavated from them. From Yamato-Kamiichi Station on the Kintetsu Railway Yoshino Line, take the Nara Kotsu bus to Miyataki and it is a short walk away.

奈良県吉野郡吉野町宮滝の吉野川北岸の河岸段丘上にある宮殿跡。縄文時代から奈良時代にかけての遺物を含む山地の遺跡としてその価値が認められ、1957年(昭和32)に国の史跡に指定された。約2万m2という広大な地域にまたがって、各時代の遺物が出土。縄文時代の遺構は国道169号の新道と旧道に挟まれた段丘上に、弥生時代の遺構は宮滝の段丘で広範囲にみられる。縄文文化に関するものは土器、石斧(せきふ)、石鏃(せきぞく)、石小刀、石棒などからなり、土器は沈線をほどこし、部分的に巻貝による圧痕を有するものが多い。弥生文化に関するものは土器、石斧、石庖丁などで、土器は櫛目文が多く大型で合蓋式のものもあり特色をそなえる。なお、地表下に30~40cm内外の敷石があり、須恵器(すえき)、土師器(はじき)および古瓦などが出土する。近畿日本鉄道吉野線大和上市駅から奈良交通バス「宮滝」下車、徒歩すぐ。
