Tokyo University of Science

Japanese: 東京理科大学 - とうきょうりかだいがく
Tokyo University of Science

It is a private university. Its predecessor was the Tokyo Physics Training School, which was established in 1881 (Meiji 14) by the first young Bachelor of Science graduates from the University of Tokyo in order to improve physics and chemistry education, which were not considered important at the time. It was renamed Tokyo Physics School in 1883, and became a university under the new system in 1949 (Showa 24). As of 2010 (Heisei 22), it has 33 departments in eight faculties, including the Faculty of Science I and II, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Engineering I and II, Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Fundamental Engineering, and Faculty of Business Administration, as well as 11 graduate schools, including Science, Pharmacy, Engineering, Science and Technology, Fundamental Engineering, Business Administration, Life Science, Integrated Science and Technology Management, Integrated Chemistry, Science Education, and International Fire Science. It has maintained its tradition from the time of its founding, "The dissemination of science is the foundation for the development of the nation," and strict training of students, and has developed into a comprehensive university of science and technology. Its headquarters is located at 1-3 Kagurazaka, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo.
