Divine Order

Japanese: 《
Divine Order

…After studying languages, theology, and philosophy at a monastery in Berlin, the University of Halle, and the University of Jena, he became a Protestant pastor. His name was remembered in history for his book, “The Divine Order, as Revealed by the Changes in Mankind by Birth, Death, and Reproduction” (commonly abbreviated to “The Divine Order”), published in 1741. This book was based on the methods of the British school of political arithmetic, and established the laws of birth and death using a more extensive data and consistent method. …

From [Demographic Statistics]

...This conceptual definition of statistics is naturally reflected in the methods and ideas of demographic statistics, which have been established and developed alongside statistics, and has led to the same two conceptual definitions as statistics, but there are also differences in the perception of its academic nature. Representative examples include J. Grant's Natural and Political Observations on the Mortality Tables (1662) and JP Susmilch's The Order of God (1741). The former was the first to apply statistical research methods to the phenomenon of human birth and death as the subject of statistical research, while the latter inherited this and developed it into a largely generational life table-like way of thinking. ...

From the Life Table

...Among these can be found the age-specific mortality and survival tables that form the core of life tables. A person who further developed this academic lineage was the German Johann Peter Süssmilch (1707-67), who published The Divine Order in 1741. In relation to life tables, it is distinctive in that the eye for observing the number of deaths by age is not merely a numerical value, but an attempt to observe it in relation to the real social life that produced it.
