A crustacean of the family Ploceidae in the order Complete Thorax of the subclass Cirripedia. A type of small barred shell that grows in colonies and attaches to the shells and legs of large crabs such as the spider crab. The head is 10 mm long, and the stalk about 5 mm. Like the barred shell, the head is covered with five shell plates and has a white base with pale red or orange-red areas. It is widely distributed in warm currents south of Sagami Bay. A similar species, P. obliquum , is about 10 mm long, has an almost circular head, and a very short stalk that attaches to the appendages at the mouth of spider crabs and other creatures.

蔓脚（まんきやく）亜綱完胸目ヒメエボシ科の甲殻類。タカアシガニなどの大型のカニ類の甲らや歩脚に付着，群生する小型のエボシガイの1種。頭状部の長さ10mm，柄部5mmくらい。頭状部はエボシガイのように5個の殻板で覆われており，白地に淡い紅色または橙紅色を帯びた部分がある。相模湾以南の暖流域に広く分布している。近似種のマルヒメエボシP.obliquumは10mmくらい，頭状部はほとんど円形をしており，ごく短い柄で，タカアシガニなどの口のところにある付属肢に着生している。
