A performer of the Fujimatsu school of shinnai-bushi. (1) The First (1827-1902, Bunsei 10-Meiji 35). His real name was Sato Takejiro. He was from Kurume, Fukuoka. He was blind and learned jiuta and sokyoku from an early age. In 1846 (Koka 3), he went to Edo and became a disciple of the first Fujimatsu Rokuchu, and cooperated with the new works movement, especially in the shinnai-bushi of Gidayu-bushi, which he learned himself and helped. At the end of the Edo period, he performed at vaudeville halls, playing and singing, and was said to be a master of his refined and elegant art. In his later years, he returned to Kurume and was commonly known as "Kurume's Shicho." His disciples included Fujimatsu Kagadayu 5th, Yanagiya Shicho, and Fujimatsu Shundayu (1877-1941) of Nagoya. 新内節富士松派の演奏家。(1)初世(1827‐1902∥文政10‐明治35) 本名佐藤竹次郎。福岡・久留米の人。盲目で,幼少より地歌・箏曲を学ぶ。1846年(弘化3)江戸に出て初世富士松魯中に入門,その新作運動に協力,とくに義太夫節種の新内化にはみずから義太夫節を学んで助けたという。幕末には寄席に出て弾き語りをし,渋く品のいい芸は名人といわれた。晩年は久留米に帰り,俗に〈久留米の紫朝〉といわれる。弟子に5世富士松加賀太夫,柳家紫朝,名古屋の富士松春太夫(1877‐1941)らがある。
