A nobleman in the early Muromachi period. His posthumous name was Zen'ei Chounen. He was called Kojuin. He was the son of Hino Sukeyasu. He established the Uramatsu family, a branch of the Hino family, and was also known as Uramatsu Shigemitsu. He was the nephew of Yoshimitsu Ashikaga's first wife, Nariko. His elder sister Yasuko (Kitayamain) was Yoshimitsu's second wife, and his younger sister Eiko was the wife of Shogun Yoshimochi. His daughter Shigeko became a concubine of Shogun Yoshinori. In 1392 (Meitoku 3), he became head of the Kurodo clan and a councilor, in 1394 he was promoted to Junior Third Rank, in 1405 he was promoted to Gon Chunagon, in 1408 he was promoted to Junior First Rank, and in 1418 he was promoted to Gon Dainagon. Twenty years later, he also served as the inn regent to the retired Emperor Komatsu. In 1445 (Bun'an 2), he was posthumously awarded the title of Sadaijin. They served as the Buke Denso and Nara Denso, acting as intermediaries between the nobles, temples and shrines and the shogunate, and conveying the decisions of the Shogunate. As the Shogun's in-laws and close vassals, they wielded enormous political power over the nobles and samurai.

室町前期の公卿。法名は善永兆年。広寿院と号す。日野資康の子。日野家の庶流裏松家をおこし,裏松重光とも称す。室町幕府将軍足利義満の先室業子の甥に当たり,姉康子(北山院)は義満の後室,妹栄子は将軍義持の室である。娘の重子は将軍義教の側室となった。明徳3(1392)年蔵人頭,参議となり,同4年に従三位,同5年に権中納言,応永15(1408)年従一位,同18年権大納言となり,同20年後小松上皇の院執権を兼ねた。文安2(1445)年に左大臣を追贈される。武家伝奏,南都伝奏を務め,公家衆,寺社の幕府への取次や,将軍家の裁決の伝達を行い,将軍家の外戚,近臣として公家,武家に対し絶大な政治力を発揮した。
