〘Noun〙 A festival for the city gods that is held at a fixed time every year. It is often held around January 10th, but it can also be held on the same day as a festival day for the local deity. ※Questions and Answers on Customs in Various Provinces (early 19th century) from Questions and Answers on Customs in the Shirakawa Domain of Mutsu Province: "In castle towns, the deity (which is also known as a roadside deity) is moved to Otesaki on the 14th and a festival is held. This is called the City God Festival."
