A town in Sannohe County in the southern part of Aomori Prefecture. It occupies the upper reaches of the Kumahara River, a tributary of the Mabechi River, on the eastern slope of the Ou Mountains, and is mountainous with little arable land. It produces garlic, apples, tobacco, and rice, and also raises livestock. The town suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 241.98 km2 . 6,175 people (2010). 青森県南部，三戸(さんのへ)郡の町。馬淵(まべち)川の支流熊原川の上流部，奥羽山脈の東斜面を占め，山地が広く，耕地が少ない。ニンニク，リンゴ，タバコ，米を産し，畜産も行う。東日本大震災で，町内において被害が発生。241.98km2。6175人（2010）。
