A village in Minamiaizu District, on the southwestern edge of Fukushima Prefecture. It borders Tochigi, Gunma, and Niigata Prefectures. On the western side, on the Niigata Prefecture border, the Tadami River flows, and there are the Okutadami Dam, Okutadami Lake, and Sanjo Falls, while the Ozegahara Plain spreads out at the southeastern end. The Hieda River flows from the northeastern to central parts of the village, and the village's central settlement is located on a small flat area. There are Mt. Taishaku on the eastern edge, Mt. Hiuchigatake in the southern part, Ozenuma Lake on the southern edge of the Gunma Prefecture border, and Mt. Aizu-Komagatake in the central part, and many climbers visit these mountains. National Routes 352 and 401 pass through the village, and Oike and Numayama Pass on the way are used as gateways to exploring Oze. The cool climate and heavy snowfall make it a poor agricultural area, and tourism, including guesthouses, hot spring facilities, and souvenir shops, is the main industry. 390.46 km2 . 636 people (2010).
