Cuneiform characters found on Hittite clay tablets excavated at Boğazköy in central Turkey. Hittite characters are mainly composed of three elements: syllabaries that transliterate Hittite, ideograms that are logographic characters, and determinatives that are placed before the noun in question to indicate its meaning. The characteristics of the characters are those of the Third Dynasty of Ur (2112 BC - 2004 BC), in which the distinction between voiced plosives (g, b, d) and voiceless plosives (k, p, t) is not complete, and the distinction between long and short vowels, and between e and a and e and i are not clear.
