A genus of ornamental fern in the Capillaria family that is often cultivated in greenhouses. Well-known species include P. calomelanos var. aureoflava Wetherby (goldback fern) and P. argentea Mett. (silverback fern). All species have a flavonoid secretion powder on the underside of the leaves, and the powder comes in a variety of colors.
