Japanese: ビシュバリク - びしゅばりく（英語表記）Biš balïq

The name of an oasis located at the northern foot of the Bogd Aura mountain range in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. It means "Five Towns" (Wucheng) in Turkish. It is also known as the Chinese pronunciation of "Bieshi Bali." It flourished under this name during the Uyghur-Mongol period, including the period of conflict with Tibet and other countries, from the 8th to 14th centuries. Qiu Chuji, who visited this area in the 13th century, wrote in his book "Changchun Zhenren Journey to the West" about being welcomed with wine by the Uyghur king's tribe, held discussions with local Han monks, Taoist priests, and Confucian scholars, and visited the Buddhist temple Longxing Saiji.

中国の新疆ウイグル(維吾爾)自治区，ボグドオーラ山系の北麓にあったオアシスの名。トルコ語で〈五つの町〉(五城)の意。〈別失八里〉の漢音訳でも知られる。8～14世紀ころ，チベットなどとの抗争期を含むウイグル～モンゴル時代にこの名のもとで栄えた。13世紀の20年代，この地を訪れた丘処機は，その著《長春真人西遊記》にウイグル王の部族からブドウ酒による歓待をうけた模様を記し，当地の漢人の僧侶，道士，儒者と座談を行い，仏寺竜興西寺を訪れている。
