968‐1008 Islamic writer and founder of Maqamat literature. Born in Hamazan (Hamadan), he traveled to various cities in Iraq and Iran, interacting with people from all walks of life, from nobles to beggars, and wrote the Maqamat, a prose narrative work in Arabic, based on his experiences. This work epitomizes the true nature of society and humanity at the time, and is therefore valuable. Of his more than 400 Arabic and Persian works, 52 remain.
