? ‐1111 A politician from Goryeo, Korea. His pen name was Donghyun. He was from Papyeong. He passed the civil service examination during the reign of Emperor Munjong, and thereafter held a succession of important posts, reaching the rank of Monkasijū. During that time, he participated in the campaign against the Jurchen, who were growing increasingly powerful at the time and repeatedly invading Goryeo. In 1104, he failed in a campaign as the military commander for the northeast, but in 1107, as a marshal, he led an army of 170,000 men and defeated the Jurchen army, establishing nine fortresses in the Hamhung area of Hamgyong Province. However, the Jurchen (later Jin) continued to invade Goryeo, and in 1109 they were defeated. Goryeo abandoned the nine fortresses and made peace with the Jurchen. His posthumous name was Munsu.
