Environmental destruction

Japanese: 環境破壊 - かんきょうはかい

A situation in which the state of the environment deteriorates or is destroyed, such as pollution or destruction of nature. Specifically, this includes air pollution, water contamination, noise, vibration, foul odors, land subsidence, soil contamination, marine pollution, and destruction of natural ecosystems, natural landscapes, historical streetscapes, and historical and cultural heritage such as cultural properties. The major leakage of radioactivity due to the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident in March 2011 is the worst form of environmental destruction. The task of environmental protection or conservation is to prevent and overcome various forms of environmental destruction.

公害や自然破壊など環境の状態が悪化する，あるいは破壊される事態。具体的には大気汚染，水質汚濁，騒音，振動，悪臭，地盤沈下，土壌汚染，海洋汚染自然生態系や自然景観，歴史的街並み，文化財などの歴史的・文化的な遺産などの破壊が含まれる。なかでも2011年３月の福島第一原発事故などによる放射能の大漏洩は，最悪の環境破壊である。さまざまな形での環境破壊の防止・克服が環境保護または環境保全の課題である。
