Sudarium

…Louis IX, who received the crown of Christ, dedicated the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, and the vestment that Mary wore on the day of the Annunciation was placed in the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Chartres. The sudarium, on which Saint Veronica wiped Christ's sweat on the day of his crucifixion and on which the image of his face was imprinted, was discovered by Adémar du Puy, the papal representative, and brought to Cadouin in southern France. Many holy relics, except those that were originally in a tomb or those in which the bones were divided immediately after death, such as those of Thomas Aquinas, were "discovered" later with miracles. …
