A slang term for convulsions. Usually refers to paroxysmal convulsions in children. Children are more susceptible to convulsions than adults, and they can occur when they have a fever from a cold or tonsillitis, or when they are extremely excited. They will go away if the child is kept quiet. However, they can also be a symptom of serious illnesses such as epilepsy or encephalitis, so a doctor's diagnosis is necessary. Particular attention should be paid to recurring or prolonged seizures, or when they are accompanied by a high fever or confusion. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
