Frame‐up

Japanese: でっちあげ（英語表記）frame‐up

A technique of information manipulation or incident manipulation in which a specific person or group is targeted for personal gain or political purposes, a criminal scenario is fabricated using false facts, and an incident is artificially triggered, making the "culprit" a scapegoat, and eliminating and banishing him or her as a hindrance. It is also called framing. From the perspective of the target and victim of the attack, it is a malicious scheme that mobilizes lies, an unjust conspiracy. In particular, political framing is used as a political strategy that appeals to social prejudice by ruling forces or those seeking to seize power during historical turning points or periods of change, and is used as a convenient way to unfairly frame and eliminate a meaningful opponent.

私利私欲や政治的目的などのために，特定の人物や集団を標的に選び，虚偽の事実によって犯罪の筋書きを捏造（ねつぞう）し，また作為的に事件を惹起して，〈犯人〉をスケープゴートに仕立てあげ，じゃま者として排除し追放していく情報操作や事件操作の技術。フレームアップともいう。その攻撃対象とされ犠牲となる側からみれば，それは虚偽を動員した悪質な策略，不当な陰謀ということになる。とりわけ政治的フレームアップは，歴史の転換期や変動期に，支配勢力や権力奪取をねらう側から社会的偏見に訴えかける政治謀略として仕掛けられ，有意味な対抗相手を不当に陥れ排除する事態画策の便法として利用される。
