Madhusūdana Sarasvatī
A philosopher of the Advaita school of Vedanta, the mainstream of Indian philosophy around 1500. Dates of birth and death unknown. His main work was Advaita-siddhi, in which he attempted to refute criticism from the Madhva school. He is also known as the author of Prasthānabheda (The Various Paths), a concise philosophical overview that takes a harmonious and comprehensive stance, and is said to have been the first person to fuse Advaita with the path of devotion (bhakti).

1500年ころの,インド哲学の主流を成すベーダーンタ学派の中の不二一元論派の哲学者。生没年不詳。主著は《アドバイタ・シッディAdvaita‐siddhi》で,マドバ派の批判を退けようとした。簡潔な哲学概説であり調和的包括的立場に立つ《種々なる道(プラスターナベーダPrasthānabheda)》の著者としても知られており,また不二一元論と信愛(バクティ)の道とを融合させた最初の人であるともいわれている。
