Higashino [town] - Higashino

Japanese: 東野[町] - ひがしの

This old town occupies the northeastern part of Osakikamijima and the surrounding small islands in Toyoda County, Hiroshima Prefecture. Since the mid-Edo period, it has prospered through shipping and shipbuilding. It produces mandarin oranges and also engages in shipbuilding, ironworks, and other industries. There is a lead smelter on Chigirijima. Sagimijima, Usujima, and other islands are part of the Setonaikai National Park. In April 2003, it merged with Osaki Town and Kinoe Town to form Osakikamijima Town. 12.67 ^km2 . 3,037 people (2000).

広島県豊田郡，大崎上島北東部と周辺の小島を占める旧町。江戸中期以降海運と造船業で栄えた。ミカンを産し，造船，鉄工など工業も行う。契(ちぎり)島には鉛製錬所がある。佐組島，臼島などは瀬戸内海国立公園の一部。2003年４月，大崎町，木江町と合併して大崎上島町となる。12.67km²。3037人（2000）。
