Cohort - kohoto (English spelling) cohort

Cohort - kohoto (English spelling) cohort

A demographic term referring to a population group that shares common attributes such as age or sex at a certain point in time. For example, the rate at which a population group of a certain age in a certain year (a cohort for that age) is alive one year later is called the "cohort survival rate" for that age. In particular, when estimating future population, a method called the "cohort factor method" is often used. First, the population by sex and age in a certain year is determined based on highly accurate statistics such as the population census, and this is used as the base population. Then, for each cohort by sex and age, the cohort survival rate is used to calculate the decline in population, while for each age cohort of women, the age-specific birth rate is used to calculate the number of births, which are then added to the future population.
