A soldier of the People's Liberation Army of China. Born into a poor peasant family, his parents were killed by the Japanese army and a landowner, and his siblings also died due to poverty. Orphaned at the age of seven, he went to school after liberation and became a tractor driver after graduating. He later joined the Liberation Army and was killed in an accident while repairing a car during disaster relief efforts. He was considered a model for studying Mao Zedong's works and serving the masses, and the "Learn from Lei Feng Movement" was launched nationwide. After the Cultural Revolution, especially in the 1980s, Lei Feng was criticized as a tool for personality cult, and the "Learn from Lei Feng Movement" died down, but it was re-advocated by the Chinese Communist Party after the Tiananmen Square incident in 1989.

中国人民解放軍の兵士。貧農の出身で父母を日本軍と地主に殺され，兄弟も貧困のため死亡。7歳で孤児となり，解放後学校へ行き，卒業後トラクタ運転手となった。のち解放軍に入り災害救助活動の際，自動車整備中の事故で殉職した。毛沢東著作の学習，大衆に奉仕する模範とされ，「雷鋒に学ぶ運動」が全国的に展開された。文化大革命後，特に 1980年代に入ってから雷鋒は個人崇拝の道具でもあると批判され，「雷鋒に学ぶ運動」が下火になったが，1989年の天安門事件後，再び中共によって提唱された。
