A suspension bridge over the River Humber near Hull in northeast England. It consists of three spans, with a central span of 1,410m, the second longest in the world. The idea of building a tunnel or bridge at this point had existed since the mid-19th century, but planning began around 1920, and in 1959 the Humber Bridge Construction Act was passed, which led to the construction of a suspension bridge as a toll road. However, due to political and financial reasons, construction did not begin until 1972, and even after construction began, the construction period was significantly delayed due to labor disputes, bad weather, difficulties in foundation work, and accidents during construction, and it was finally opened in June 1981.

イングランド北東部，ハル付近のハンバー川に架かるつり橋。3径間よりなり，中央支間長1410mは世界2位である。この地点にトンネルか橋をという構想はすでに19世紀半ばからあったが，1920年ごろから計画が始められ，59年ハンバー橋建設法が成立，有料道路としてのつり橋を建設することとなった。しかし政治･財政上の事情から工事が着手されたのは72年で，着工後も労働争議，悪天候，基礎工事の難航，架設途中での事故などにより大幅に工期が延び，81年6月ようやく開通に至った。
