Crow's Sesame - Crow's Sesame

Japanese: カラスノゴマ - からすのごま

An annual plant of the Tilia family found in sunny areas and roadsides in the mountains and fields of Japan, it can reach a height of 50 cm (illustration). It is densely covered with short, star-shaped soft hairs all over. The leaves are alternate, ovate or narrowly ovate, 2.5-6 cm long, slightly acute at the tip, circular or truncate at the base, bluntly serrated at the margin, and have three veins. The stipules are linear, 2-4 mm long, and deciduous. The flowers are solitary in the leaf axils, 1.5-2 cm in diameter. The sepals are narrowly lanceolate, 5 mm long, and recurve at the tip. There are five yellow petals, obovate.
