Born: August 24, 1707. [Died] June 17, 1791. Founder of the "Community of the Countess of Huntingdon" in England. Born into an aristocratic family, she married Theophilus Earl of Huntingdon (1728). She joined J. Wesley's Methodist movement and worked to spread Methodism, especially among the aristocracy, becoming a central figure in the 18th century Evangelical Revival. In her later years, she organized the many churches she had founded into the "Community of the Countess of Huntingdon" (90).
