The phenomenon in which ice melts when pressure is applied, and freezes again when the pressure is removed. When water freezes, its volume increases, so this phenomenon occurs because the melting point (→ melting) drops when pressure is applied. This phenomenon is also what makes skates slippery, as the ice under the edges melts, making it easier to slide around. 氷に圧力を加えると解け，圧力を除くと再び氷になる現象。水は凍ると体積を増すので，圧力を加えると融点 (→融解 ) が降下するためにこの現象が起る。スケートが滑るのも，この現象によりエッジの下の氷が解けて滑りやすくなるためである。
