A term referring to the theatrical world, especially the world of Kabuki.

[Origin] " Old Book of Tang --From an episode that appears in "Ongakushi Vol. 1." In the 8th century, Chinese Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty loved music and had a deep understanding of it. He would gather musicians at a place in the palace called "Liyuan" and personally instruct them in practicing performances. As a result, they were called "Liyuan disciples." From this point on, the world of music and dance came to be called "Liyuan." In Japan, the term is used to refer to the world of Kabuki, a traditional comprehensive art form.

[由来] 「旧唐書―音楽志・一」に見えるエピソードから。八世紀、唐王朝の時代の中国の皇帝、玄宗は、音楽が好きでしかも理解がとても深く、宮中の「梨園」という場所に音楽家たちを集めては、自ら指導して演奏の練習をしていました。そこで、彼らは「梨園の弟子」と呼ばれたということです。ここから、音楽や舞踊の世界のことを「梨園」と呼ぶようになりました。日本では、伝統的な総合芸術、歌舞伎の世界を指して使われます。
