Panzhihua - Panzhihua

Japanese: 攀枝花 - はんしか

A city in the southwestern tip of Sichuan Province, China. Population 600,000 (1994). During the Tang Dynasty, Huichuan County was established, and during the Yuan Dynasty, Huili Prefecture and other areas were established, but originally it was an area inhabited by ethnic minorities such as the Yi and Naxi peoples. In 1965, parts of Yongren and Huaping counties in Yunnan Province, and Yanbian, Miyi, and Huili counties in Sichuan Province were merged to form Dukou City, which was renamed in 1987. Along with Liupanshui in Guizhou Province, it is considered an important area in southwestern China, and is an industrial city developed around the Panzhihua Iron and Steel Company in the northwest of the city. It has the largest deposits of vanadium-titanium magnetite in China, and also produces coal and other metallurgical materials, forming a large industrial complex.

中国，四川省南西端の市。人口60万(1994)。唐代に会川県，元代に会理州等がおかれたが，もともとイ(彝)族，ナシ(納西)族など少数民族の居住地域。1965年雲南省永仁･華坪，四川省塩辺･米易･会理各県の一部を合併して渡口市が成立，87年現名に改称。貴州省六盤水とともに中国西南部の重点とされ，市北西部の攀枝花（はんじか）鉄鋼公司を中心に開けた工業都市。含バナジウム･チタン磁鉄鉱の埋蔵量は中国最大で，石炭をはじめ冶金用原料も産し，一大コンビナートを形成する。
