Japanese: 塵塚物語 - ちりづかものがたり

A collection of tales from the Muromachi period. The colophon states that it was compiled in 1552 (Tenbun 21) by a certain Fujiwara, and there is a preface from 1569 (Eiroku 12), so it is thought to have been compiled around that time. It contains 65 stories about the personalities and anecdotes of important people from ancient times to the Kamakura and Muromachi periods, as well as historical matters such as virtuous government. The contents are not precise and some of the descriptions are based on a modern sensibility, so its reliability is low, but it conveys much about the manners and customs of the Middle Ages. 室町時代の説話集。奥書には1552年(天文21)成立，藤原某の作とあり，また69年(永禄12)の序文があるのでこのころの成立と考えられる。上代以降，おもに鎌倉･室町時代の重要人物の人格･逸話や，徳政などの歴史的な事柄に関する話65編を収録する。記載内容は厳密性を欠き，近世的な感覚による叙述もみられ，その信憑性は低いが，中世の風俗や慣習を多く伝える。《改定史籍集覧》所収。【鳥居和之】
