Electric wire industry - densen kougyou (English spelling) electric wire industry
An industry that manufactures electric wires and cables for power and communication. Depending on the type of wire produced, it can be broadly divided into bare wire manufacturing, cotton wire/rubber wire manufacturing, synthetic rubber wire manufacturing, magnet wire manufacturing, power cable manufacturing, and communication cable manufacturing. In Japan, it is said that copper wire was first manufactured in Osaka in 1832, and rubber-coated electric wire was manufactured in 1860. Since then, with the rapid spread and development of electrical and communication equipment, various improvements have been made to the quality of the wires, and high-performance electric wires such as optical fiber and extra-high voltage transmission lines have been developed. Recently, research and development of new technologies such as superconductivity has also progressed. It is estimated that there are about 400 major electric wire manufacturing companies, 90% of which are small and medium-sized enterprises. In general, it is an equipment industry and produces a wide variety of products in small quantities, so the management base is in a state of excessive competition, and for this reason many companies are streamlining and diversifying their management.
