A former town in Ayauta County, central Kagawa Prefecture. It occupies the south of Mt. Iino and the eastern part of the Marugame Plain. Rice, vegetables, and peaches are cultivated using reservoir irrigation, and sewing and wood product factories are also located here. As a hinterland for Sakaide City, it is being developed into a residential area. In March 2005, it was incorporated into Ayauta Town, Ayauta County, and Marugame City. 20.03 km2 . 香川県中部,綾歌(あやうた)郡の旧町。飯野山の南,丸亀平野の東部を占め,溜池灌漑(ためいけかんがい)による米作,野菜,モモの栽培が盛んで,縫製,木製品の工場も立地。坂出市の後背地として住宅地化が進んでいる。2005年3月綾歌郡綾歌町と丸亀市へ編入。20.03km2。1万7399人(2003)。
