Myricyl Alcohol
Chemical formula: CH 3 (CH 2 ) 29 OH. Also known as 1-triacontanol. A straight-chain saturated alcohol with 30 carbon atoms. It exists naturally in carnauba wax and beeswax, either in its free form or as an ester of palmitic acid, and in the alcohol of wool fat. Its melting point is 86.5°C. The straight-chain saturated alcohol with 31 carbon atoms, CH 3 (CH 2 ) 30 OH, contained in beeswax is called melissyl alcohol (1-hentriacontanol) and has a melting point of 85.9°C.
