A technique for reducing dislocated joints or fractures using the hands. Reduction refers to the procedure of returning the relative positions of the articular surfaces that form a dislocated joint to their normal position, thereby returning the dislocation to its original position. In addition to the advantage of not causing any wounds like surgery (such treatments are called non-invasive treatments), manual reduction has the advantage of allowing delicate control of the direction and strength of the force applied.
