Japanese: 徒手整復 - としゅせいふく（英語表記）manipulation

A technique for reducing dislocated joints or fractures using the hands. Reduction refers to the procedure of returning the relative positions of the articular surfaces that form a dislocated joint to their normal position, thereby returning the dislocation to its original position. In addition to the advantage of not causing any wounds like surgery (such treatments are called non-invasive treatments), manual reduction has the advantage of allowing delicate control of the direction and strength of the force applied. 手を用いて関節の脱臼や骨折の整復を行う手技のこと。整復とは，脱臼した関節を形成する相互の関節面の位置関係を正常位に復して，脱臼をもどすような操作をいう。徒手整復は，手術などのように傷をつけない(このような治療法を非観血的治療法という)という利点のほかに，作用する力の方向や強さが微妙にコントロールできる利点がある。【近藤徹】
